dc.description.abstractAunque la enseñanza del inglés y la conciencia ambiental han sido prioridades en los programas educativos colombianos, no ha habido mucha discusión sobre cómo las clases de inglés podrían generar de manera efectiva conciencia acerca de los desafíos ambientales que necesitan ser atendidos con urgencia en la actualidad. Este estudio surge de la necesidad de ampliar el enfoque lingüístico en la enseñanza del inglés, de la relevancia actual de fomentar la ciudadanía ambiental y de la postura crítica que los docentes pueden aportar al aula mediante el diseño de sus propios materiales. El objetivo principal es examinar cómo el uso de materiales diseñados por el docente contribuye al desarrollo de la ciudadanía ambiental y al aprendizaje del inglés en estudiantes de segundo grado. Los datos recopilados a través de diarios de campo, artefactos y entrevistas dan cuenta de una postura moral frente a los problemas ambientales, una clara conciencia de las expresiones lingüísticas y una perspectiva crítica sobre los materiales de aula y las estrategias de enseñanza.spa
dc.description.abstractenglishAlthough teaching English and environmental awareness have been priorities in Colombian education programs, there hasn't been much discussion of how English classes might effectively create awareness of the environmental challenges that urgently need to be addressed today. This study emerges from the need to expand the mere linguistic approach in English teaching, the current relevance of fostering environmental citizenship in all educational contexts, and the critical stance that teachers can bring to the classroom by designing their own material. This action research's primary goal is to examine how using teacher-designed materials helps second-grade students at a public school in Bogotá develop their environmental citizenship and their English learning process. As an action research with a qualitative approach, this study aims at gaining deep understanding of the educational context and it also regards participants as an essential and active part of the research project itself. The data collected through fieldwork journals, artifacts, and interviews revealed an emerging moral stance toward environmental issues among students, a clear awareness of linguistic expressions, and a sustained critical perspective on classroom materials and instructional strategies.eng
