    The Interinstitutional Doctorate in Education (DIE), at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, presents on this occasion a set of chapters in which the authors reflect on language as a cultural phenomenon and its fundamental role in the education of contemporary society. The study of discourse translates into reflection on multiple forms of representation, relationship with others and spaces, constitution of external reality and subjectivity, power and potency; in other words, language as a volatile phenomenon transcends mere codes and constantly resignifies itself, making meaning a dialogical and ideological configuration, an idea that, among other issues, allows us to understand the social function of language. In the fourteenth issue of this collection, the authors present some of the most paradigmatic epistemological currents in relation to language, their methodologies and their pragmatic proposals, implemented in pedagogical spaces.

    El lenguaje y su papel en la formación universitaria

    Iniciamos esta serie con el ensayo del profesor Alfonso Cárdenas a propçosito del papel del lenguaje en la formación de profesionales universitarios. Sus valiosas reflexiones, derivadas en buena medida de su reconocida actividad investigatica, se inscriben dentro del necesario referente conceptual que debe animar el actual proceso de renovación e innovación curricular. En este sentido, el texto del profesor Cárdenas aporta a la definición del ambiente de formación lingüística y contiene un buen número de valiosos criterios para los maestros de lengua materna, no solo a nivel universitario.
