| spa |
| dc.description.abstractenglish | Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) affects approximately 1–2% of the global population and is associated with significant impairment in quality of life, interpersonal relationships, and physical health. No studies have been conducted in Colombia to characterize lifestyle, physical activity (PA) levels, and psychosocial factors in this population. Objective: To characterize lifestyle, PA levels, and psychosocial factors in a sample of individuals with BPD in Bogotá. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study of 18 adults (83.3% women, median age 26 years) with a confirmed diagnosis of BPD. The IPAQ, GPAQ, FANTASTICO, PANAS, and ERQ questionnaires were administered, along with a sociodemographic-clinical form. Results: 83.3% had discontinued previous treatments, and 66.7% had been hospitalized for psychiatric reasons. 22.2% reported complete physical inactivity (0 MET-min/week). Negative affect (M=35.5) far exceeded the normative range (15–20), while positive affect (M=26.7) was low. The mean FANTASTICO score was 27/100, placing 100% of the sample in the “health risk” category. Conclusions: Individuals with BPD in Bogotá exhibit a profile of high clinical vulnerability, risky lifestyles, and a significant proportion of total physical inactivity. Structured PA is positioned as an accessible, non-pharmacological, and low-cost complementary strategy that can modulate negative affect and strengthen emotional regulation. | eng |
