This study analyzes the teaching of pronunciation and intelligibility in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Bogotá, where historically it has been subordinated to grammar and vocabulary. Based on national and international research, it argues that intelligibility and prosody should be the central focus of oral instruction. The main contribution is a proposed rubric for evaluating teachers' teaching strategies, organized around criteria such as clarity of objectives, methodological strategies, integration of prosody, student participation, use of resources, and reflective practice. This rubric aims to strengthen teacher training and improve the quality of English language teaching in Colombia, promoting inclusive and effective environments that prepare students to communicate successfully in diverse international contexts.eng
