| dc.description.abstract | Con la creciente masificación de la enseñanza superior, las universidades afrontan dificultades en el cumplimiento de sus tareas tradicionales; más concretamente, afrontan el desafío de compatibilizar la enseñanza profesional y la formación humanista e integral de sus estudiantes. En este artículo se evalúan los principales supuestos que obstaculizan en nuestro medio el diseño de un modelo de universidad capaz de afrontar con éxito ese desafío. También se ofrecen algunas indicaciones acerca de los requisitos que debería satisfacer un modelo universitario adaptado a las necesidades de la educación masiva. | spa |

Whit the growing popularization of higher education, universities have difficulties in completing their traditional tasks, More specifically, they confront the challenge of reconciling professional teaching and a humanistic formation of their students. In this article the main obstacles that hinder the design of an university model able to confront whit success this challenge in our countries are evaluated.
