This qualitative action research study was conducted with firstly 4th and finally 5th grade students at Colegio Técnico Domingo Faustino Sarmiento with the purpose of analyzing the influence of game-based learning on students’ engagement in English classes. Through that analysis, the concepts of healthy authority and leader-peer interaction were also tested to see if it was possible to improve them in the classroom. The study followed an action research approach and was developed in four stages: diagnosis, theoretical review, intervention design and implementation, and evaluation of results. Data was collected through diagnostic tests, workshops, observation, listening and speaking assessments, writing tasks, and a final perception survey. The intervention included board games, missions, role-playing activities, and collaborative challenges focused on integrating vocabulary, simple structures, and socioemotional learning within meaningful contexts. This project provided students and teachers with practical game-based strategies to enhance engagement, foster cooperation, and support the gradual development of communicative skills in the English classroom.eng
