Abstract

The XXIII Annual Ernesto Restrepo Tirado History Chair, held on November 8, 2019 at the Museo Nacional de Colombia, was entitled “The history of history: 200 years of narratives, research and teaching” and aimed to contribute to reflections on the teaching of history, based on a review of the ways in which history has been narrated, researched and put into circulation since the very beginning of the Republic of Colombia. The Chair promoted the debate on the need to narrate the nation's historical processes in formal, non-formal and informal educational settings, and became a scenario to identify the challenges of history teaching today. Several of the reflections presented in that edition of the Cátedra are included in this book, produced by the joint initiative of the Museo Nacional de Colombia and the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.
