In the present research, the study of the incidence of a learning platform with a metacognitive scaffolding is presented and analyzed through the performance of students when learning basic vocabulary and their ability to retain it. The type of research is quasi-experimental, vocabulary learning was used as a dependent variable, and the use and non-use of a scaffolding within a VLE with Blended learning strategy in the GOOGLE Classroom platform, as an independent variable. The intervention was carried out with 90 high school students during 6 weeks in which 3 modules were developed, directed towards the development of communicative skills and focused on basic vocabulary. In the end, the sample was reduced to 46 with whom the study of results was carried out; it was observed that both groups, experimental and control, obtained a positive performance, although there is evidence that the metacognitive scaffolding had a positive effect on the results of the experimental group since they presented a certain differential level between the results compared between the pre-test and post-test, but there was no difference in retention ability.eng
