This reflective article aims to analyze the history of the foreign language teaching from a pedagogical perspective, considering the possibilities and the role the teacher plays in the process. The results of reflection highlight the variations that have occurred over time and the contribution that the teacher makes by observing tudent needs. Thus, the teacher plays a decisive role in the effective application of the methods used, whose usefulness largely depends on how the teacher uses them and the particular abilities of each student
