El sentido de las circunstancias: el debate sobre la deixis en la semántica filosófica de Gottlob Frege.
(Editorial Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, 2017-09-19) Bejarano Chaves, Ángela Rocío
This article discusses the debate between John Perry and Gareth Evans about the consideration of Gottlob Frege’ssemantics as a proposal to account for the meaning of the deictics. In Perry’s view, Fregean semantics is inadequate to explain the meaning of such terms. In Evans’s view, such semantics is adequate to account for this. In the development of the text the different arguments of the debate are presented, and a reading is offered. With it, it is proposed to show that, according to Perry’s criticism, Evans fails to show that Frege’s semantics is adequate to account for the meaning of the deictics, since he introduces, in his arguments, notions other than the Proposed by Frege, in addition in the Fregue semantics there is no place for the circumstantial meaning of the deictics, since the Fregean project does not seek to explain the meaning of such terms, nor does the meaning in natural language in general. In this sense, Frege’s inte-rest is not in circumstantial truths, but in universal and necessary truths; Therefore, the debate about the sense of circumstances is a great misunderstanding that does not do justice to the thought of Frege himself.
