    La identidad nacional en los textos escolares de ciencias sociales. Colombia 1900-1950

    The work constitutes an important contribution to the knowledge of Colombian cultural history in the first half of the twentieth century. The research is part of an analysis that addresses education as a history of culture. The authors pay special attention to the constructions of national identity, the popular and the different ethnic components of the nationality, proposed by the history, geography and civic instruction manuals. This work is also important to rethink the specificity of Colombian modernity, with respect to the complex articulations between Catholic traditionalism and modern spirit, between Catholicism and patriotism, as well as the ways in which the processes of formation of good Christians overlapped with those of formation of good citizens during the first half of the twentieth century. In this sense, the book invites us to revisit the historical fact of the construction of citizenship in Colombia and the different models of citizens that operated there as guides for the civic behavior of the population.
