En ese sentido, el interés de Invención de un cuerpo para la escuela fue, a través de un análisis riguroso del uniforme escolar en Colombia entre 1827 y 1920 (como una marca distintiva, como criterio de clasificación y como una forma de segregación social), indagar en las condiciones que produjeron el cuerpo escolarizado y las principales características que se asignaron al sujeto escolar en los discursos y prácticas ligadas al uniforme. La lectura desde el margen que posibilita la historia cultural de los objetos escolares, en este caso, el uniforme escolar y los códigos de vestir en la escuela, articula prácticas, actores, saberes escolares, experiencias, discursos y procesos institucionales, lo que permite comprender correlaciones, jerarquizaciones y un sistema construido a partir de valores morales, principios higiénicos, preceptos estéticos y prácticas corporales en la escuela, en el marco de un proyecto estético y democrático que, quizás, la escuela no ha parado de agenciar.According to the postulates of the British historian Peter Burke, to bet on the cultural history of education is to bet on searching in those areas of the past that have gone unnoticed, to put the magnifying glass on the micro, the everyday and the routine; to analyze the silences, the unsaid. In this sense, the interest of this book was, through a rigorous analysis of the school uniform in Colombia between 1827 and 1920 (as a distinctive mark, as a classification criterion and as a form of social segregation), to investigate the conditions that produced the schooled body and the main characteristics assigned to the school subject in the discourses and practices linked to the uniform.
