En este se expone el análisis de la construcción de un símbolo de naturaleza originalmente estético en uno político y el interés de sus creadores, a partir de una educación humanística, por utilizar símbolos para la construcción de identidad, en particular con el fin principal de fortalecer la soberanía a través del nacionalismo musical.This paper presents the results of an investigation that aimed to examine how the intellectual elite of Santa Fé in nineteenth-century Colombia faced the challenge of building a nation through the creation of the symbol of bambuco.
